Actually the results were incredibly fair. I know you are all waiting on pins and needles wondering how we did. Let’s just say we already have a game plan for next year. Russell said he would be happy with the turkeys as long as we didn’t place last. He should be happy I guess – next year lets set our sites a little bit higher. We came in 10th out of 11. I guess you can say that that is not last as long as you didn’t see what last looked like. I seriously think that 11th place may have been just an extremely large chicken because it was a mighty tiny turkey. Let me put our turkey situation this way: Don’t come for Thanksgiving Dinner at the Rogas house – if you do, you will possibly leave hungry. Oh well, everyone says it’s the experience you are after. I didn’t realize until today that I must be more competitive than I realized because Britt was happy with the experience… The Mom was more into figuring out how to win!
After that experience I was totally prepared for a bum show with the cows as well. I can tell you it is definitely better to think you are going to bomb and then place rather than think you will fair ok and stink! Britt placed 17th with his heifers. That probably isn’t that good but it is definitely better than 2nd to last! Oh well- now comes the hard part. I have to watch Britt take them thru the ring at the sale. Hopefully the wild bunch won’t jump the fence and … well
you get it …. OLE’!
Now let me tell you who all joined me at the fair. Britt and Russell left with 2 card board boxes filled with turkeys at 7 this morning. Grant woke up about 7:30 and said, “Mom, remember that fair, we have to go today, we have turkeys and cows to do”. Grant is 6 you have to be 8 to have a fair entry but WE have projects to do! Jack slept thru the whole thing so we left him with Nena. Probably a darn good thing, I can only imagine what tootie pants would get into having a whole fair to explore! I asked Benjamin if he would like to join us for the morning and he replied, “No – I have no interest in that fair thing. I think I will stay home today with Nena and just enjoy my day of not having to go to school”. OK well I guess he tells it like it is!!! I wonder if he will decide to see the fair at all this year? That Ben – you just can never tell what will come out of his mouth!
